Workplace homicides in the United States
  • 631 workplace homicides recorded in 2003
  • Workplace homicides #2 cause of death at the workplace
  • Workplace homicides make up 16% of all occupational fatalities
  • Number of workplace homicides was higher in 2003 – the first increase since 2000; suicides also were higher in 2003

  • Retail trade (50% of homicides); Credit intermediation (46% of homicides); Nursing (35%) and Finance and insurance (28%) were the top four industries for workplace homicides
